Here are my current results (did the reinstall + upgrade three times) :
-Updating Feisty generally went well (sometimes it just tell me that something
failed to update but restarting it shows no available update)
-Starting the upgrade makes the upgrade to fail because it can't check the
upgrader integrity (ftpmaster key wasn't in the keyring)
-Once the ftpmaster's GPG key manually imported and the upgrade restarted it
seems to work till the point where all the updates are downloaded
-At this point the progressbar show 0% again and after a couple of second the
upgrader just disappear.

At this point I ran an upgrade by hand from the console :
-aptitude reported that I still had to download 61MB (including a kernel) while
the upgrader showed that 100% of the packages were downloaded
-the dist-upgrade is finishing at the moment but there doesn't seem to have any
other problem when doing it with aptitude

I never saw any apport or KDE crash window, I'll attach the content of
/var/log/dist-upgrade soon

System is VirtualBox with 1GB of memory and 5GB of HDD.
