Public bug reported: snapd is already running with elevated privileges as a system service, but requires logging in with U1 credentials (or using sudo) to install local snap packages. This is a regression from click which integrated with packagekit to allow installing local packages without root, or authenticating to U1.
As snapd is already running with necessary privileges it should be possible to allow installing local snaps without requiring U1 or root. This limitation makes it significantly more difficult to integrate snap support into the current user experience under Unity 8, and on phone/tablet devices. ** Affects: canonical-devices-system-image Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Affects: snapd (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Also affects: canonical-devices-system-image Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1612783 Title: snapd requires U1 account to install local packages To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/canonical-devices-system-image/+bug/1612783/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
