Public bug reported: Binary package hint: libreadline5
Since recently (5.2-3build1), several readline-using applications, such as bash and zsh no longer handle 8-bit characters (such as é or ö). Entering such a character just rings the terminal bell. It's indeed tied to the shell, and not the terminal, as other terminal applications such as vi, cat or hexdump do just fine. Even /bin/sh (which does not use readline) does fine. ** Affects: readline5 (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- readline no longer handles 8 bit character https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/150833 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
