I figured out the problem. Some settings were off, which I was able to
fix with gsettings. The offending settings were the text scaling
facrtors in org.gnome.dekstop.interface and
.com.canonical.Unity.Interface. After getting the settings to correct
values (the unity one should be 1 and the gnome one should be whatever
your scaling factor is), you should log out and log in again.
I certainly didn't delete anything directly related to these settings,
so how this happened is something of a mystery.
