Sorry, I correct myself:

Start-Date: 2016-07-30  21:05:54
Commandline: apt-get --no-upgrade -o
Acquire::gpgv::Options::=--ignore-time-conflict -y install grub-efi-amd64-signed
Install: grub-efi-amd64-bin:amd64 (2.02~beta2-36ubuntu3.1, automatic),
grub-efi-amd64:amd64 (2.02~beta2-36ubuntu3.1, automatic),
grub-efi-amd64-signed:amd64 (1.66.1+2.02~beta2-36ubuntu3.1)
Error: Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1)
End-Date: 2016-07-30  21:05:59

Start-Date: 2016-07-30  21:06:05
Commandline: apt-get --no-upgrade -o
Acquire::gpgv::Options::=--ignore-time-conflict -y install shim-signed
Install: shim-signed:amd64 (1.18~16.04.1+0.8-0ubuntu2), shim:amd64
(0.8-0ubuntu2, automatic)

So both grub-efi-amd64-signed and shim-signed have failed to install, for
unknown reasons. Therefore we can't tell, by the logs alone, if the efibootmgr
call has succeeded.

Did you have a previous version of Ubuntu installed on this computer?
