Christian Heitjan, the hardware does one of the following things:

sudo modprobe -r wl; sudo modprobe wl
rfkill block wlan; rfkill unblock wlan

You need to:

sudo systemctl restart network-manager.service, since the bug is in
network manager and not the wifi card.
