I have installed all binary packages created from building this source package, install log attached just above.
After that I have fired up wammu, making sure it connected to my phone correctly, asked for phone info and reported it correctly, fetched some contacts information and wammu reported them correctly. After this I also used gammu (command line interface) and fetched an sms, which printed out correctly.
