Thank you so much for following up! :) Unfortunately, the client needed to have a computer so I no longer have any access to the machine. Maybe someone else in the world has this netbook and would be able to do testing.
Semi-work-around: Using policies i disabled the use of suspend. It is now configured to turn off the LCD display when the lid is closed but not suspend. Hopefully this will help others.
