Oh, of course; to fix the initial mysqlclient_r build failure I replaced every instance of mysqlclient_r in the source with mysqlclient, which probably fixed the check as well. Might be a better solution (mysqlclient_r is identical with mysqlclient in 5.5 and 5.6 as well, so no need to keep the old behavior for any live version of MySQL)?
