"As expected. You're using an ADSL gateway as DHCP server?"

Actually I use a cable modem and a router. Anyway I tried to add ntp-
servers to dhclient but doing research I discovered this only works if
the dhcp server is configured to give out ntp server addresses. Since I
have no dhcp servers that give out ntp addresses it will not do any
good to add ntp to dhclient.

The problems that remains is that ntp is being brought up and attempting
to do it's thing before networking is brought up. We need someone to
check if this problem exist with static networking and if it does then
the fault lays with ntp simply being too early and the package
maintainer will need to set ntp to come up after networking. However if
ntp works just fine with static networking then the fault may lay with
the dhcp system. The dhcp I believe is slower to bring up then static
because all that stuff with acquiring ip addresses and such but I could
be wrong.

ntp is being brought up before network is ready, causing ntp to not resolve any
ip or host names and it appears ntp does not recover
