Public bug reported:

Steps to reproduce:

 1. Use the Gmail user agent override specified here:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/webbrowser-app/+bug/1375889

 2. Ensure 'Auto punctuation' is enabled in system settings

 3. Compose a message

 4. Double tap space

Expected result:

A full stop should be inserted

Actual result:

 Two spaces are inserted

This is because this version of Gmail replaces all spaces we insert with
non-breaking space characters ( ), so the keyboard needs to be able
to handle any sort of space character, not just those we insert
ourselves.
