Public bug reported:

Operating System fails to suspend/hibernate when closing zenbook lid or
selecting suspend from the power options menu. The laptop shipped with
windows 10 and the suspension functionality worked fine before I
installed Ubuntu.

I expect the machine to suspend upon closing the lid of selecting
suspend and wake up with the state of the machine prior to suspension.
The machine appears to shutdown after closing the lid or suspending.

Computer specs:
Asus Zenbook 3.05
Ubuntu version: 16.04 LTS
