Generally, the frozen desktop was very very rare/seldom. I'd have to work weeks with the cdimage to reproduce this issue.
In the meantime I don't experience frozen desktops in Ubuntu 14.04.4 any more. Maybe it's already fixed even in 14.04.4. Maybe I see it again in a month or so. For the moment, I don't have any fatal errors in my syslog: cat /var/log/syslog|grep -i fatal <empty> cat /var/log/syslog.1|grep -i fatal <empty> Maybe I can reproduce this issue again in the near future. If I remember correctly, it happened from time to time when working with a Java aplication (PhpStorm/OpenJDK) which produces a significant load from time to time (4 threads at 100%). I'll do similar stuff in the next weeks, maybe I hit the problem again. Did you have a look at https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=92505 ? Maybe you can see if the patch made it into ubuntu in the meantime? They also state that "Original issue was fixed by updating to video- intel git master". Maybe the corresponding patches made it into ubuntu in the meantime. ** Bug watch added: freedesktop.org Bugzilla #92505 https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=92505 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1551566 Title: gnome-session logs out with Fatal IO error 11 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1551566/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
