I have fglrx ati on x550 and x700... When starting compiz --- visual effects --- Normal, Extra or Custom Screensaver set to 1, 2, 3 etc... Any screensaver selected... screen goes black and back to desktop pretty fast... Power settings all to never... After a few flashes more or less 10 the screen goes black and stays black until mouse move... at 10 mins setting the screen goes black stays blak until mouse move...
