Public bug reported: IBM and also some early adopter customers complaint about the official Ubuntu 16.04 installation guide for s390x (IBM System z): https://help.ubuntu.com/16.04/installation-guide/ mentioning that: - it contains partly outdated information and links - that there is not enough s390x / IBM z Systems focus - that the naming is not correct - that it includes information that is not relevant to s390x
Due to these complaints and because of the urgency I created an adjusted and revised version of the install guide with special s390x focus and transformed it (for convenience reasons) to a wiki. It is located here: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/S390X/InstallationGuide It includes two further child documents covering: - step-by-step instructions on howto setup Ubuntu on z in an LPAR: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/S390X/Installation%20In%20LPAR - step-by-step instructions on howto setup Ubuntu on z as z/VM guest: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/S390X/Installation%20In%20zVM - (another set of instructions on howto install on zKVM follows soon) Please update the official Ubuntu 16.04 installation guide available here: https://help.ubuntu.com/16.04/installation-guide/ especially the s390x specific parts with the revised version that is temporarily available from that wiki: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/S390X/InstallationGuide It will also be helpful if the links at the Installation Guide landing page that points to the s390x version(s) can be temporarily replaced by the link to the wiki - just until the update and merge is completed. ** Affects: installation-guide (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: s390x -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1575236 Title: adjust the s390x parts of the 16.04 install guide To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/installation-guide/+bug/1575236/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
