I would expect that when my mouse is over the laptop screen and I press
F12, then guake application would appear in the laptop screen.

4) guake application always appears at the external monitor. The only
difference is, that when my mouse is in the laptop screen, then the quake
window gets smaller (I guess it will be of laptop screen resolution, which is
smaller than the external monitor). When the mouse is on the external monitor,
then it displays there as expected.
Configuration (if matters):
main window horiz. alignment: right
main window width: slightly under 100% (I got this config from XFCE, where I
had a vertical panel on the left side of the screen).
I even tried to reboot my laptop after attaching the external monitor, to no
avail.
On XFCE (e.g. xubuntu 14.04) it worked perfectly.
