Public bug reported: Frescobaldi (as for version 2.18.1+ds1-2ubuntu) on Ubuntu 15.10 often fails to detect Midi devices. In such cases Midi playback fails to run.
*Analysis: It appears that Midi playback relies on various Midi Python packages not available in Python3. It provides a bridge to libportmidi0 (ctypes_pypm.py and pm_ctypes.py). This bridge is ineffective if libportmidi0 is not installed. *Workaround: When installing Frescobaldi, install libportmidi0 too. >sudo apt-get install libportmidi0 *Correction suggestion: Add the libportmidi0 package in the dependecy list of package frescobaldi. Note : When users struggle to solve this problem, they often install various Midi related packages. They end up with libportmidi0 package installed. ** Affects: frescobaldi (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1572566 Title: Frescobaldi fails to detect Midi To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/frescobaldi/+bug/1572566/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
