Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gnome-panel
1. Start with an gnome desktop that doesn't have visual effects, using more than 2 workspaces (I had 4 and 8) 2. Enable visual effects (right click the desktop, "change desktop background", "visual effects" tab, check one of the radio buttons to enable visual effects) 3. Click "cancel" when asked if you want to keep the changes. Result: Your previous settings will be restored, except that you will have only 2 workspaces, instead of the 4, 8, or whatever you had previously. This is reproducible.
