Hi, this happens in feisty fawn. Here try this:

1. Close totem if you have it open.
2. Click on a sound file then quickly on another when the loading cursor is 
still on.
3. It will play the first one, even though "opening the second file" will show 
in the gnome panel briefly.

So maybe this only happens when the loading cursor is still showing,
still, it should open the last one. Or else it should not show the
"opening 2nd file" in the panel. This might not seem like much, but
listening to music while surfing the web, this can happen a lot. And it
can be annoying since I already switch to firefox by the time it begins
playing and it plays a song I didn't expect it to and I have to switch
back.
