A IBM Thinkpad T41 fails with kernel 2.6.17-7-generic too. The system can't resume from suspend and hibernate crashes with a blank screen. Kernel 2.6.17-6-686 handles suspension fine and hibernate does something with the system but it ain't a hibernation. ;)
