Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: network-manager

Hello,

I've installed Kubuntu Gutsy Beta on my desktop-system. On this system
I've got 2 network cards -> one onboard (VIA-Rhine VT6102, MSI KT3 Ultra
board with Athlon 2200+) and one 3Com 3C905CX-TXM PCI-card.

Sometimes the connection to the router is not established and I have to
restart the card in system settings. After this restart the connection
is established. But even if the connection is established it sometimes
gets lost, and again I have to restart the card.

First I thought it was a problem of having 2 cards and tried only using
one card at a time, removed the PCI-card and used only the onboard-card,
after that I disabled the onboard-card and installed the PCI-card. But
the problem still exists.

In Feisty I don't have any problems with the network, so it might be a
problem with network-manager in Gutsy.

I disabled network-manager and configured the cards in system settings
to startup on boot using DHCP, and it seems to work without any more
problems (tested it now for a few days).

Asked in www.ubuntuusers.de if other users experienced the same problem,
and at the moment another user has the same problems (ther might be some
more users in the future, the thread is only a few minutes old). Here's
the link, but I'm afraid the thread is in german language:

Regards,

Ralf
