There is also a qtmir issue here, repeatedly closing the dash before it
draws its first frame results in the dash getting "lost" in application
manager.

Please find unity8.log attached from when I triggered ↑ and then, in
console, did:

phablet@ubuntu-phablet:~$ initctl status unity8-dash
unity8-dash start/running, process 6270
phablet@ubuntu-phablet:~$ restart unity8-dash
unity8-dash start/running, process 6609
phablet@ubuntu-phablet:~$ stop unity8-dash
unity8-dash stop/waiting
phablet@ubuntu-phablet:~$ start unity8-dash
unity8-dash start/running, process 6868

As you can see, the dash was, in fact, running, restarting it didn't
bring it back - it had to be stopped and launched again.
