Public bug reported: I setup a new laptop with Xenial, using a recent daily ISO. I used the default partitioning of the entire disk.
Within a week I got apt install failures due to /boot being full. Either kernels are not being autoremoved as they should, or the recomended /boot partition is too small at 237MB. Currently, after recovering using 'apt-get autoremove' a few times (sometimes it fails, due to lack of disk space on /boot), my /boot has 26MB free: $ ls -al /boot/ total 193283 drwxr-xr-x 5 root root 3072 Mar 5 10:16 . drwxr-xr-x 25 root root 4096 Mar 5 10:14 .. -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 1237780 Mar 2 23:57 abi-4.4.0-10-generic -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 1236828 Feb 19 05:22 abi-4.4.0-7-generic -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 1237029 Feb 25 06:24 abi-4.4.0-8-generic -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 1237780 Mar 1 07:23 abi-4.4.0-9-generic -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 189204 Mar 2 23:57 config-4.4.0-10-generic -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 189180 Feb 19 05:22 config-4.4.0-7-generic -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 189180 Feb 25 06:24 config-4.4.0-8-generic -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 189202 Mar 1 07:23 config-4.4.0-9-generic drwx------ 3 root root 4096 Jan 1 1970 efi drwxr-xr-x 5 root root 1024 Mar 5 10:16 grub -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 37554667 Mar 5 10:16 initrd.img-4.4.0-10-generic -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 13883077 Mar 5 10:15 initrd.img-4.4.0-7-generic -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 37528324 Mar 3 19:58 initrd.img-4.4.0-8-generic -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 37549030 Mar 4 22:21 initrd.img-4.4.0-9-generic drwx------ 2 root root 12288 Feb 26 19:32 lost+found -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 182704 Jan 28 19:44 memtest86+.bin -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 184380 Jan 28 19:44 memtest86+.elf -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 184840 Jan 28 19:44 memtest86+_multiboot.bin -rw------- 1 root root 3848070 Mar 2 23:57 System.map-4.4.0-10-generic -rw------- 1 root root 3846431 Feb 19 05:22 System.map-4.4.0-7-generic -rw------- 1 root root 3847217 Feb 25 06:24 System.map-4.4.0-8-generic -rw------- 1 root root 3848070 Mar 1 07:23 System.map-4.4.0-9-generic -rw------- 1 root root 6996496 Mar 2 23:57 vmlinuz-4.4.0-10-generic -rw------- 1 root root 6998424 Mar 5 10:14 vmlinuz-4.4.0-10-generic.efi.signed -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 6975840 Feb 26 19:38 vmlinuz-4.4.0-7-generic -rw------- 1 root root 6977520 Feb 25 06:24 vmlinuz-4.4.0-8-generic -rw------- 1 root root 6979448 Feb 29 17:21 vmlinuz-4.4.0-8-generic.efi.signed -rw------- 1 root root 6997424 Mar 1 07:23 vmlinuz-4.4.0-9-generic -rw------- 1 root root 6999352 Mar 4 22:21 vmlinuz-4.4.0-9-generic.efi.signed ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 16.04 Package: ubiquity (not installed) ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 4.4.0-8.23-generic 4.4.2 Uname: Linux 4.4.0-8-generic x86_64 NonfreeKernelModules: zfs zunicode zcommon znvpair zavl ApportVersion: 2.20-0ubuntu3 Architecture: amd64 CurrentDesktop: Unity Date: Sat Mar 5 10:38:30 2016 InstallationDate: Installed on 2016-02-26 (7 days ago) InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 16.04 LTS "Xenial Xerus" - Alpha amd64 (20160224) SourcePackage: ubiquity UpgradeStatus: No upgrade log present (probably fresh install) ** Affects: ubiquity (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: amd64 apport-bug xenial ** Description changed: I setup a new laptop with Xenial, using a recent daily ISO.
