Without complete log files, I can't do much with this bug. apmarkey, if you can reproduce this bug with Xubuntu 6.06.1, please reopen this bug and attach /var/log/installer/syslog, /var/log/syslog, and /var/log/partman. Anyone else, please file a new bug.
I note that there's a certain amount of this kind of thing in your syslog: Jul 8 04:31:23 ubuntu kernel: [4295050.812000] hdc: command error: status=0x51 { DriveReady SeekComplete Error } Jul 8 04:31:23 ubuntu kernel: [4295050.812000] hdc: command error: error=0x51 { IllegalLengthIndication LastFailedSense=0x05 } Jul 8 04:31:23 ubuntu kernel: [4295050.812000] ide: failed opcode was: unknown Jul 8 04:31:23 ubuntu kernel: [4295050.812000] end_request: I/O error, dev hdc, sector 1329184 Jul 8 04:31:23 ubuntu kernel: [4295050.812000] Buffer I/O error on device hdc, logical block 332296 If /dev/hdc is your hard disk, then it seems to be failing. If it's your CD drive (which is more likely on average), then you're experiencing CD read errors, which can't be helping matters. I suggest burning the CD at a lower speed (if applicable) and cleaning the CD drive lens with the sort of cleaning kit you can get at electronics shops; then perform a CD integrity check before starting the install again. ** Changed in: ubiquity (Ubuntu) Status: Needs Info => Rejected -- Xubuntu 6.06 installer crash https://launchpad.net/bugs/52299 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
