I also am having issues with "nVidia Corporation MCP51 High Definition Audio (rev a2)" sound card. It is in a HP Pavilion dv9428nr laptop that I purchased back in August. The sound worked OK with Feisty although I had lots of problems with Audacity recognizing the sound configurations. However, it doesn't work at all in Gutsy. I get a system beep instead of a login sound, for example, and the sound icon in the tray shows up as muted. Trying to adjust the volume gives:
"The volume control did not find any elements and/or devices to control. This means either that you don't have the right GStreamer plugins installed, or that you don't have a sound card configured." Also, aplay -l gives: "aplay: device_list:204: no soundcards found..." (without the quotes). lspci -v gives the card model that I described above. I don't understand why it doesn't work since it did in Feisty. I sure do hope it gets fixed soon....
