Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gthumb

GThumb and Eye of Gnome somehow manages to blur all images sent to the printer.
This is normally not noticeable with photos (except for an artist or someone
paying attention to detail), but the problem is terrible with images that
require sharp edges.
This is specially true for SVGs or scanned text, where blurring can compromise
sharpness and/or readability. Note that this happens even when printing with
100% zoom.
I have to resort to other applications to print this kind of stuff. For
example, Firefox does print SVGs as they should be printed, even in draft mode.

** Affects: gthumb (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
