I updated the BIOS to version F.50 almost a week ago. Unfortunately, I
did not notice any improvements and the problem still persists :-(

$ sudo dmidecode -s bios-version && sudo dmidecode -s bios-release-date
68SVD Ver. F.50
08/04/2014

If I select the OS "Microsoft Windows 7 Enterprise (64-bit)" instead of
"Microsoft Windows 8.1 (64-bit)" at the HP website that you suggested
(http://h20564.www2.hp.com/hpsc/swd/public/readIndex?sp4ts.oid=5071172&swLangOid=8&swEnvOid=4158),
an even later BIOS version is available (F.60). Should I install this
version?
