My sound worked with one user but not with another. The reason was that the user with no sound was added in the commandline: [adduser username] then that user was added to the admin group [adduser username admin]
When I looked at the preferences for the user in the GUI, I needed to tick a few boxes (among them the right to use sound). (I also have nvidia ck804 sound, which is why I came to this bugreport before I realised I hadn't given the user rights to sound. When sound didn't work, clicking on the volume control popped up a window which said: "The volume control did not find any elements and/or devices to control. This means either that you don't have the right GStreamer plugins installed, or that you don't have a sound card configured.") -- alsa problems with nvidia ck804 driver https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/136601 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
