Adding my own request for this change. Using Ubuntu 15.10 on an Acer
C720, which does not have many of the keys needed to use all the hard-
coded shortcuts. The main difficulty is that there is no way to use the
keyboard to the previous image. Space bar works to go to the next image,
but since there are no "page up" and "page down" buttons on the C720's
keyboard, there is no way to go back. IMO, since many newer laptops will
not have these keys, nor will they have "home," 'end," etc., it's better
to open up keyboard shortcuts to be customized by the user. This will
become especially difficult as Ubuntu and other distros move towards
tablet functionality, and users start using smaller bluetooth keyboards,
etc.
