Just a quick note: with the (yet to be released) version 2:1.7.0-1 of cryptsetup packages, the patch will not be necessary any longer as askpass[1] supports plymouth natively. Version 2:1.7.0-1 of cryptsetup packages is prepared in the Debian SVN repository[2] at the moment and will be uploaded to Debian Unstable soon.
