Thank you for your report, and for trying to help make Ubuntu better. However, glxgears is not a good benchmark. The main bottleneck for glxgears is the ability to put an image on the screen, whereas for almost all other 3d apps the bottleneck is in actually rendering the image.
Could you please test with some other 3d applications? There are a number of 3D games in the repositories. If these show a (significant - more than a couple of percent) performance reduction, there will be something to investigate. If this is just changes in the driver which impact on glxgears performance but nothing else, then it is not a bug, as no one wants to optimise for glxgears :). ** Changed in: xserver-xorg-video-i810 (Ubuntu) Assignee: (unassigned) => Chris Halse Rogers (raof) Status: New => Incomplete ** Changed in: xserver-xorg-video-i810 (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided => Low -- Drastic Framerate drop in Gutsy Beta Compared to Feisty in glxgears https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/146695 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
