1) Regarding the first 50% that has nothing to do with fixing this
issue, I'll PM you directly about it to avoid derailing this report
further with discussion that has nothing to do with getting this issue
fixed.
2) Regarding your comment:

As you have made it clear you won't be testing Xenial, no problem here.
