I see that this is somewhat of a duplicate to the old bug #3731. However, I would like to point out that in my case the original install from the live CD failed to configure xorg.config correctly - while the subsequent dpkg-reconfigure of xorg.config worked fine. For this reason I think it is additional information, and therefore I am not marking this message as a duplicate.
