@declan-mullen Take a look at your $HOME/.kde/share/config/ksmserverrc file. If it wasn't overwritten since you changed to start with an empty session, is there anything odd in the [Session: saved at previous logout] section? You could also post it, but it will include your username which you may or may not mind posting online.
