Same here on Ubuntu 14.04-based KXstudio distro. Installed the default repo tulip version 4.4.0dfsg2-2 and I get a segmentation fault straight from the start.
There have been 5 releases of Tulip since 4.4.0: http://sourceforge.net/projects/auber/files/tulip/ Trying the latest (4.8.0) will probably solve the issue, seeing that comment 51 in the Debian bug report mentions the bug should be fixed in version 4.5.0dfsg-1: https://bugs.debian.org/cgi- bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=723982#51 I can't test the latest version as I don't have the capacity to compile from source.
