I'm experiencing a similar problem after upgrade to Kubuntu Wily, though in my case I have flickering when setting a lower resolution (https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/plasma-desktop/+bug/1514167). The flickering makes the system quite unusable. I also tried to set the UXA acceleration but that does not help (it actually makes things even worse: slower and flickering does not go away).
The problem is with the current kernel 4.2.0-17-generic #21-Ubuntu SMP Fri Oct 23 19:56:16 UTC 2015 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux Switching to the old kernel on boot SOLVES the problem of flickering and things are usable again: 3.19.0-32-generic #37-Ubuntu SMP Wed Oct 21 10:23:06 UTC 2015 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux This is my card: sudo lshw -c video *-display description: VGA compatible controller product: 4th Gen Core Processor Integrated Graphics Controller vendor: Intel Corporation physical id: 2 bus info: pci@0000:00:02.0 version: 06 width: 64 bits clock: 33MHz capabilities: msi pm vga_controller bus_master cap_list rom configuration: driver=i915 latency=0 resources: irq:33 memory:f7400000-f77fffff memory:d0000000-dfffffff ioport:f000(size=64) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1509556 Title: Kubuntu Wily upgrade screen glitch with 4.2 kernel To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1509556/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
