Public bug reported: When I was installed 15.10 Wiley there was no warning given via the graphical installer (started from the desktop) that after I had created a new user (password + home dir settings) that it was going to format my swap partitions with dd. This took a while as they are pretty large. I only discovered what had hung the installer by running a terminal and watching what processes ubiquity had spawned.
The installer should inform the user that it is doing this, why it is currently "hung", and perhaps if possible give a progress bar. Regardless just hanging after account creation leaves the user uneasy about the success of installation. ** Affects: ubiquity (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1512899 Title: Installer does not warn the user that formatting swap will take a long time, after the user makes a new user.
