Public bug reported: 1) Ubuntu 14.04.3
2) 1.57ubuntu1 0 3) I expect no non-critical background process to consume all my CPU. 4) My system bogged down and running `top` I saw that a program called popularity-contest was consuming all my CPU. Apparently, this is a standard Ubuntu background service that logs which apps I use. Although that's a little disconcerting, I don't have a problem with that type of stat collection as long as I'm aware of it and it doesn't interfere with my normal usage. As a result, I've uninstalled this package.
