The intermittent disconnection still happens with kernel
4.2.0-16-generic.  It does not happen on  2.4 ghz network though.

The method suggested on

seems to be working for me. I'm quoting here:

sudo iw reg set IN
sudo sed -i 's/^REG.*=$/&IN/' /etc/default/crda
