After some further testing, I discovered that I can reproduce the bug reliably in under 60 seconds.
Steps to reproduce : 1. Boot computer 2. Open Firefox or Google Chrome 3. Lock screen 4. Wait for screen saver 5. after 15 seconds, it locks up.
