As I don't see any answer from the kernel team, I'm setting the priority of 
this bug as critical.
This basically makes the framebuffer unusable for anyone using gutsy so I think 
it's worth this status. I can submit a patch if needed, but I'd like some 
guidance on the right thing to do. IMHO, as the vesafb driver is no longer 
compiled as a module, we should load the fbcon module unconditionally in 
/usr/share/initramfs-tools/hooks/kernelextras (as otherwise it won't ever load 
it). Thoughts ?
