Public bug reported: Binary package hint: linux-image
I upgraded to the latest gutsy (Sept 25 ~6pm). When prompted to reboot, I did so. When the boot process tried to display the splash screen, my monitor turned off. I left it for about 20 minutes to see if it recovered, then hit Ctrl+Alt+Del to reboot. After removing the "quiet" and "splash" boot options in grub, I tried it again. This time it spent a bunch of time poking at the SATA controller, got confused, and bailed out to a busybox prompt. I'm still able to boot my system using the 2.6.20 kernel. The issue with the splash screen turning the monitor off had been happening with Feisty too (requiring removing "splash" as a work around). I've got an ABIT AN52 motherboard: http://www2.abit.com.tw/page/en/motherboard/motherboard_detail.php?pMODEL_NAME=AN52&fMTYPE=Socket+AM2&DEFTITLE=Y ** Affects: linux-meta (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- [gutsy] kernel 2.6.22-12 doesn't boot https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/145005 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
