I have the same issue, but may have found the source & potential workaround.
When I use a monolithic site-wide passwd file, indicator-session crashes. When I strip it down to just a local account, everything is fine. After I stop showing the users for quick user switching, it stops crashing! Possible workaround: Run the command below as the affected user. dconf write /apps/indicator-session/user-show-menu false I've actually applied this as a manditory setting on a system-wide level. Apply the attached tarball, then run 'sudo dconf update' ** Attachment added: "workaround for indicator-session crash" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/indicator-session/+bug/1301589/+attachment/4480999/+files/indicator-session-fix.tgz -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1301589 Title: indicator-session-service crashed with SIGSEGV in strlen() To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/indicator-session/+bug/1301589/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
