I have the same problem. It freezes in both: Skype and Cheese. Sometimes it freezes after one second, the other times after 5-10 seconds. I noticed that if reduce resolution to 176x144 in Cheese then it does not freeze and works fine! But when Skype starts my cam it uses 640x480 so it freezes and I don't know how to reduce the resolution it in this case. Anyway, there's some bug in it.
Environment Info: Ubuntu Gnome 15.04 3.19.0-28-generic Webcam: A4Tech.
