I also opened the font with the fontforge package and there are only a
few glyphs in the font and none of them are regular characters, there
are some special symbol characters but that is all. There are only about
36 glyphs in the entire font. So probably the reason "it works" in other
applications is because those other applications fall back to some other
default font since marlett has no useful glyphs.
