The error message indicates the QPA plugin is either missing, or cannot be loaded. Please check if
/usr/lib/*/qt5/plugins/platforms/libqpa-mirserver.so exists. If not, qtmir-desktop is the source of that file. If it is there, could you do initctl set-env --global QT_DEBUG_PLUGINS=1 and try launch unity8.
