Hi! Looks like the same, except one fact: I was unable to start gnome with safe settings. I guess the problem is caused by the 3D effects. Radeon x200m doesn't support AIGLX, and I guess that Gnome wants to use it. However Kubuntu starts normally, maybe because of the lack of 3D effects by default. I'm sorry that I was unable to help you more, but the most recent livecds fail to start on my laptop, because of an unionfs bug. So as I don't know the current state of livecds, maybe my reported bug is already fixed, but I have to wait for the unionfs fix to test it again.
