** Description changed: I am using a Gigabyte U24T laptop with a touchpad. My touchpad works on some boots but on others it goes missing without a trace. I have been told to look for it with 'xinput --list' and 'cat /proc/bus/input/devices' but neither of these return any touchpad related items. I have attached a link the output of the previously mentioned commands in their respective order. http://pastebin.com/ZVt487wB http://pastebin.com/qjjeq4BE I can't give any information on the touchpad as it is currently in a non-working state, however, this may or may not change after a reboot. I believe it is an ElanTech touchpad. Not sure what else I can do with this problem, it really annoying to randomly loose mouse functionality sometimes. I don't think it is a problem with the device itself as there have never been any problems in my Windows 8 install. They are boot using different boot methods, Linux is using GRUB through BIOS and Windows in using UEFI. Hope this helps. + --- + ApportVersion: 2.14.1-0ubuntu3.11 + Architecture: amd64 + AudioDevicesInUse: + USER PID ACCESS COMMAND + /dev/snd/controlC0: joshua 2994 F.... pulseaudio + /dev/snd/controlC1: joshua 2994 F.... pulseaudio + CurrentDesktop: KDE + DistroRelease: Ubuntu 14.04 + HibernationDevice: RESUME=UUID=906c7251-9104-4d7a-b9b4-0c496248ff7d + InstallationDate: Installed on 2014-08-24 (351 days ago) + InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 13.10 "Saucy Salamander" - Release amd64 (20131016.1) + MachineType: GIGABYTE U24 + Package: linux (not installed) + ProcFB: 0 inteldrmfb + ProcKernelCmdLine: BOOT_IMAGE=/boot/vmlinuz-3.13.0-59-generic root=UUID=4e8eee5c-1c4a-446f-a7cd-3ee290b927ff ro quiet splash vt.handoff=7 + ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 3.13.0-59.98-generic 3.13.11-ckt22 + RelatedPackageVersions: + linux-restricted-modules-3.13.0-59-generic N/A + linux-backports-modules-3.13.0-59-generic N/A + linux-firmware 1.127.14 + StagingDrivers: zram + Tags: trusty staging + Uname: Linux 3.13.0-59-generic x86_64 + UpgradeStatus: Upgraded to trusty on 2015-03-20 (143 days ago) + UserGroups: adm audio cdrom dip lpadmin plugdev sambashare sudo + _MarkForUpload: True + dmi.bios.date: 08/20/2014 + dmi.bios.vendor: American Megatrends Inc. + dmi.bios.version: U24.307 + dmi.board.asset.tag: To be filled by O.E.M. + dmi.board.name: U24 + dmi.board.vendor: GIGABYTE + dmi.board.version: To be filled by O.E.M. + dmi.chassis.asset.tag: To Be Filled By O.E.M. + dmi.chassis.type: 3 + dmi.chassis.vendor: To Be Filled By O.E.M. + dmi.chassis.version: To Be Filled By O.E.M. + dmi.modalias: dmi:bvnAmericanMegatrendsInc.:bvrU24.307:bd08/20/2014:svnGIGABYTE:pnU24:pvrTobefilledbyO.E.M.:rvnGIGABYTE:rnU24:rvrTobefilledbyO.E.M.:cvnToBeFilledByO.E.M.:ct3:cvrToBeFilledByO.E.M.: + dmi.product.name: U24 + dmi.product.version: To be filled by O.E.M. + dmi.sys.vendor: GIGABYTE ** Attachment added: "AlsaInfo.txt" https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1483478/+attachment/4442623/+files/AlsaInfo.txt -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1483478 Title: Elantech touchpad not detected To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1483478/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
