Public bug reported: The partitioner fails to detect any existing partitions. The only alternative on manual partitioning is to erase the whole disk. I could not proceed the installation and test.
This is a very serious problem for regular users since it erases the partition table and causes a complete loss of all data on the computer. REMARKS: This bug might be related to other partitioning problems such as 138156 or 130124. The problem was experienced while testing Ubuntu Gutsy Gibbon Tribe 5 alternate install on a Linux-friendly laptop Sony Vaio VGN-B1XP. This particular computer has been extensively tested with several Linux distributions and with other releases of Ubuntu without any issues on partitioning or disk handling. (But I have to confess that I did not test yet how it feels to erase all data on the computer, perhaps I may experience this in the future.) ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: gutsy partition ** Description changed: The partitioner fails to detect any existing partitions.
