And now the next upgrade, half a day later or so, broke X.org as well, throwing me into "safe mode" for graphics at 800x600 and put my keyboard to "us", from which I could not configure anything reasonable at all. Had to go back to earlier kernel and do dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg to get it semi-fixed.
